April brings many activities to our town.  The month started off with Shakespeare in the 'burg - which was a great success.  Thank your to Genie Ford and her team and sponsors for a wonderful 1st time event in Middleburg.  We look forward to it again next year.  Also this month - equestrian activities begin!  Fox Chase Farm just east of Middleburg has Jumper Shows; and its time for Middleburg Spring Races at Glenwood Park just north of town. Congratulations to Foxcroft School Centennial Celebration this year - many activities planned at Foxcroft and at the National Sporting Library & Museum. Middleburg Community Center is having their Art Auction on Friday, April 11 - "A Step Above", 5:30-7:30.  Middleburg's Art Council has Art in the Burg scheduled for Saturday, April 26 - Over 30 artists and 6 musicians will be throughout town, look for their tents. April 26 is also Middleburg's Arbor Day Celebration, 9 am at Middleburg Library.  This year the tree is planted in memory of Harold "Bud" Morency.  Also, our first Drug Take Back Program is April 26 - 10 am - 2 pm behind Middleburg Community Center - see flyer below.

Pursuant to the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended, Sections 15.2-2204 and 15.2-2285, the Middleburg Town Council will hold a public hearing beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 to hear public comments on the following:

Zoning Text Amendment 13-03:  Amending Article 2, Section 17 of the Middleburg Zoning Ordinance to add a definition for the terms "active application" and "inactive application" and to add Article 5, Section 66 pertaining to Inactive Applications.  If approved, this ordinance would require an applicant to submit a new zoning application once their application has been inactive for a period of six months.

This hearing will take place at the Town Office, 10 W. Marshall Street, Middleburg, Virginia.  The file for this application may be reviewed there from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, holidays excepted.


The Town of Middleburg, located approximately 45 miles west of the District of Columbia, is a small community that cares deeply about its historic character as well as its role as a regional, national and international tourist destination.  The Town is accepting resumes for Town Planning/Zoning Administrator, a professional position responsible for the administration of the Town's zoning and land development regulations, as well as the comprehensive plan.  This position performs a variety of tasks related to permitting, plan and application review, customer service, record management, research and analysis and is the primary staff support to the Planning Commission, Historic District Review Committee and Board of Zoning Appeals.  Support is also provided to the Town Council and other Town committees as needed or assigned.  Bachelor's degree in planning or related field and three years of relevant experience required; Master's degree and/or AICP and/or VAZO certification preferred.  Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills and analytical ability.  Competitive Salary and Benefit Package:  DOQ/DOE.  Submit cover letter, resume with salary history and references to Town Administrator, P. The Town of Middleburg has developed an Automated Phone Alert System that will be used to send businesses and residents public safety, emergency and weather-related messages.  If you are a resident of the Town or a merchant in the Town and would like to receive the Town's automated phone alert messages, please contact the Town Clerk at to get your name on the list.  You will need to provide your name and a telephone number for the contact.  Messages will only be sent to one telephone number per resident/merchant.  For more information, please contact Rhonda North, Town Clerk, at (540) 687-5152.


The Town Council recently adopted regulations related to private fireworks displays.  In addition to the permit required by the Loudoun County Fire Marshall, there are regulations that apply in the Town limits. One requirement is that the permit holder must provide written notice of the date, time and location of the display at least ten days in advance to those residents who seek such notice.  If you would like to receive a notice, please contact the Town Clerk at (540) 687-5152 or


The Town of Middleburg has issued its
Annual Drinking Water Quality Report, also known as the Consumer Confidence Report , for 2012.  This report is designed to inform you about your drinking water.  Copies of the report were mailed to each water customer on June 5, 2013.  Copies of the report are also available at the Town Office,  located at 10 West Marshall Street.   




The implementation of a drug take back program is a recommendation contained within the 2013 Wellhead Protection Plan for the Town as a means to keep hazardous waste, including drugs, from entering the Town’s source water.   This program has been developed through the combined efforts of the Middleburg Police Department, the Wellhead Protection Advisory Committee and Go Green.
